The Emory L.E.A.D. Team
Overview: Do you consider yourself to be a leader, or even someone with basic leadership skills that wants to enhance them and use them in service to the Emory community?
Benefits
Besides having the opportunity to network with fellow students, faculty, and staff from all areas of campus, L.E.A.D. Team members will also:
- Plan and present programs related to critical topics of leadership
- Serve as mentors to other students that wish to enhance leadership skills
- Learn to delegate tasks to each other and to the ELE participants
- Set outcomes for programs, develop programs around those outcomes, and implement the programs
- Gain skills related to basic group development: teamwork, finding role in the group, etc…
Obligations
- Attend weekly meetings on Wednesdays, 4:30pm-5:30pm (March 18- April 29, 2009, and then September 2, 2009 – April 28, 2010 (excluding University Holidays and Finals weeks)
- Attend a one-day L.E.A.D. Team retreat on March 22, 2009 from noon-5pm
- Attend the ELE retreat on October 23-24 or October 24-25, 2009
- Attend the ELE meetings (the 4 meetings in addition to the retreat will occur on Wednesdays during our regular meeting times, but from 4:00 – 6:00 pm).
- Attend the 2008-2009 Eagle Awards: April 9, 2009 at 5:30 pm
- Attend the 2009-2010 Eagle Awards: April 8, 2010 at 5:30 pm.
Qualifications
All students, both undergraduate and graduate, in good academic standing and with a demonstrated ability to lead peers, mentor younger students, and a passionate desire to develop their own leadership potential are encouraged to apply for this position.
Application Process
The application process occurs in early Spring of each year. Applications are generally available mid-January and due mid-February. Interviews and Selections are held in early March, with training beginning the week after Spring break.
