The Emerging Leader Experience- launching leaders since 1996!

Mission

 

 

 

Mission:
The Emerging Leader Experience (ELE) exists to provide Emory undergraduate students with the opportunity to develop foundational leadership principles through with other student leaders. Participants will engage in leadership development opportunities and service-learning projects with the ELE community, the larger Emory community, and upperclass student leaders, developing important ethical leadership and global citizenship skills throughout the experience.
Purpose:
The ultimate goal of the Emerging Leader Experience is to allow participants to establish a stronger sense of community, and gain the personal leadership skills necessary to advance into leadership positions across campus.
Outcomes:
As a result of participating in the Emerging Leader Experience, students will:

  • Understand their own personal leadership style and be able to articulate a personal leadership philosophy and vision
  • Enhance personal communication skills and ability to listen actively
  • Develop a stronger ability to interact and work with diverse populations to accomplish a task.
  • Understand the implications of power, privilege, and oppression
  • Value leadership in service, and service in leadership
  • Practice value- and ethically- driven leadership
  • Have a deeper understanding of Leadership at Emory
    • Gain a stronger sense of “belonging” to the Emory Community
    • Know how to be successful as a leader on Emory’s campus
    • Understand how to find their niche on Emory’s campus
    • Be prepared to lead a student organization at Emory
    • Know resources for service opportunities on campus
