Often times, in order for you to receive a discount on your auto insurance, you will need to provide them with proof of you having taken and passed a defensive driving course within the past 3 years. The safe driver training course is a defensive driving course. Once you have passed the online version of this course, you will have the option of purchasing a certificate, for an additional $3.50. I already took a defensive driving course outside of Emory. Is that enough?
In most cases, if an individual takes a defensive driving course from another agency, for reasons unrelated to Emory at the time, we will recognize that course as long as the following 3 conditions are met:
- The course taken was an actual defensive driving course;
- The course must have been taken less than 3 years prior to the date that the driving activity for Emory will take place;
- Proof of completion (such as a certificate of completion) for that course must be submitted to your defensive driving coordinator at least 5 business days prior to the date that the driving activity for Emory will take place.
